Vice President

Laurent discovered slacklining in 2012-2013 at Fontainebleau during a climbing weekend. Having a background in a lot of other movement-based activities, like swimming, diving, climbing, and parkour, he was immediately drawn to practicing this new art of balance. After a couple of years of light practice on some old school primitive tubular setup, he jumped into tricklining, and eventually highlining.

In 2016 got involved with the Belgian slackline association (BeSlack) and has since contributed in helping to develop slacklining nationally, and in 2018 he became a representative of the Education Commission. As an experienced climbing and diving coach, Laurent dedicates his time to learning, sharing, and trying to improve the awesome new practice of slacklining in a safe and efficient way.

Education Wizard

As a novice Slackliner, Drake was first introduced to highlining in Yosemite Valley with the words, “Try this; It’s like slacklining but safer.” 🤣

Since that day, Drake has become a passionate member of the international highline community, a proud Slackline Ambassador for Slackline.US, and an ISA certified slackline instructor. Drake is passionate about outdoor education, conservation, and responsible recreation. As a passionate highline freestyler, Drake is working to support local and international Slackline communities by building relationships, increasing awareness, and establishing access.

Karin started to slackline in November 2008 in a cold and dark muddy park while wearing heavy mountain shoes. She kicked off her shoes in the springtime for a bit more elegance, and she kept on practising with a sense of creativity and ease. Her highlining career began in 2015 and she was selected to join the Slacktivity team soon after. Karin has helped to grow her local community in Austria by being involved with the “Tiroliners” slackline club, and has been a key member in developing slackline education and methodology internationally. With her many experience hours on the line, as well as her passion for the fine details of movement, she has been a main contributor to the development of ISA education commission slackline instructor courses.

Gabriela started slacklining in 2011. As a founding member of the slackline group Tenochtitline in Mexico City, Gabriela has taken on a pioneering role in the development of the slackline community in Central America. Nuri has been slacklining since 2005, and started introducing slacklining to the people around him while he was practicing occasionally. However it was not until he went to Portugal for his studies in 2011, when he discovered highlining and became strongly involved in the slacklife.  Back in Turkey, Nuri contributed to developing a local slackline community in İstanbul. Together with his friends he started organizing slackline meetings and workshops. Standing out, Nuri is a founding member and president of the Turkish Slackline Association, Slackline Derneği, and has been working on creating slackline courses in Turkey. In addition to the latter, he is also one of the driving forces behind organizing the Turkish Highline Carnival, which became one of the longest running international highline festivals in the world. With his extensive background in teaching and volunteer work he helps coordinate the ISA´s effort to develop an internationally recognized slackline instructor diploma.

Tom has started slacklining in 2012. He has been an active member in the UK highline community and has spent a lot of time teaching others how to slackline. In his country he is known for helping the slackline community negotiate access agreements for highline areas in places where there are environmental issues to be aware of. Joining the ISA Education Commission in 2018 Tom is mainly involved in the development of a rigger certification for slackline festivals and coordinates efforts such as developing an internationally recognized slackline instructor diploma.

Miryana learned to slackline in 2014 on a small brazilian island from a guy named Cesar at 3am after a dock party. After failing miserably the next morning while the local kids crushed the 10m line, she became addicted to the sport and obsessed with the idea that everyone should get on a slackline. She has been a member of the ISA since 2017, and is one of the founding members of the Education Commission, as well as president of the Canadian Slackline Association. With a background in physical education pedagogy, she is responsible for starting the first extra-curricular slackline program in an elementary public school in her home province of Ontario. Miryana believes that slacklining can save the world.
