When my cousin introduced me to slacklining in 2019, I was very sceptical about my ability to do this.
I didn’t believe I had it in me.
My cousin then said that the reason why I couldn’t do it was, because I wasn’t willing to commit.
So I took it as a challenge, and was walking the line by the end of the afternoon. Since then I believe that everyone is capable of slacklining.
I spent the following 2 years playing around on park lines, mainly me and YouTube videos.
Having discovered the bounce in the park, and being afraid of falling badly, it quickly became clear to me that I had to go high.
So in 2021 I started highlining at the age of 44.
I not only discovered the joy of highlining, but also a lovely caring community. Highlining quickly took over my life.
I have been part of Beslack, the Belgian slackline association, almost immediately after starting highlining.
And since then I have been involved in Beslack events, record lines and courses, as organiser and instructor.
I have been lead of the BHF rigging team for the past 3 years.
Also as introducing a well defined rescue protocol and training for the Belgian Highline Festival. I enjoy several highline disciplines, such as speedlining, freestyling, surfing and most of all Big Beautiful Lines. In my other life I am a nurse on intensive care and emergency wards.
